Pragmatix Fuels New IT Infrastructure
GCS Services provides food service businesses with prescreened local repair services for their
large appliances. The company operates nationally from 24 branch offices.
Business Issue
- Update IT systems and infrastructure
- Lack of IT integration between branches and headquarters
- Establish real-time, accurate financial reporting
- Lower costs and reduce system downtime
- Train employees on new system
Business Results
- Reduced IT infrastructure support requirements
- System downtime declined from 2 days to less than 2 hours per month
- Savings of $250,000 a year in overtime
- Financial reporting could be completed in days instead of weeks
GSC's IT systems were outdated and unreliable, causing significant downtime for the
company. As a result, overtime costs were soaring. Monthly financial reporting was time-consuming
and labor intensive, requiring manual intervention. Reports took more than two weeks to produce - much
too late to be useful to branch managers. To make GSC more productive, Pragmatix installed standardized
hardware in each branch, added new computers and updated software. Pragmatix's implementation team trained
employees at each branch in the new systems and procedures. Problem reporting and maintenance procedures
quickly corrected system issues without downtime. In addition, financial reports from each branch are automatically
uploaded to headquarters. Managers receive information in a matter of days, able to act on the information
to implement goals.
"Our company had 24 U.S. locations, was in the middle of a sale to a Fortune 500 company, and
we'd just lost our CEO/CIO during a change over of our company software. Pragmatix showed an ability
to understand our business and its many financial implications immediately. They quickly filled the gaps
with both senior management talent and project managers. Thanks to Pragmatix we were able to operate our
business flawlessly and complete our sale. In addition, Pragmatix laid the groundwork for us to map out
our future software and hardware needs."
